Hyosung Heavy Industries has completed a new high-pressure circuit breaker plant in Gyeongnam Changwon, doubling its production capacity to better meet global power grid demands.
Key points
•Hyosung Heavy Industries, new high-pressure circuit breaker plant
•Production capacity doubled, global market response strengthened
•Investment in supply chain for AI infrastructure bottleneck
The company inaugurated the 18,996 square meter facility on June 16, which will focus on producing export-grade circuit breakers rated at 420kV, 550kV, and 800kV. This expansion doubles Hyosung Heavy Industries' Changwon plant's high-pressure circuit breaker production capacity.
In response to the growing global demand for AI infrastructure, particularly addressing the 'infrastructure bottleneck' issue caused by delayed power grid construction alongside increased AI data center installations, the company has bolstered its supply chain capabilities. A company representative stated that it is crucial to build a robust supply base before market demands surge.
With this new plant, Hyosung Heavy Industries has established an integrated production system covering component manufacturing, assembly, testing, and delivery. The production capacity for 420kV and above high-pressure circuit breakers has been doubled, along with a significant increase in the production of key insulating materials.
