On July 7, Hyundai Rotem announced it had signed an MOU with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) at the 'Korea-Egypt Business Roundtable' in Seoul. The agreement covers vehicle supply as well as operation, system integration, and maintenance services.

The new administrative capital of Egypt is planned to be a large smart city capable of housing over 6 million residents once completed. It will introduce hydrogen electric trams on a 28km route with 44 tram sets. Hyundai Rotem aims to strengthen its leadership in the global rail market and expand domestic hydrogen and railway industry exports through this project.

Hyundai Rotem highlighted that hydrogen trams contribute to improving urban aesthetics by filtering fine dust during operation, and emit only water without direct carbon emissions.
