Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has begun mass production of its 'LLD series,' a 3-terminal, low ESL stacked ceramic capacitor in the world's smallest 0603M size.

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. announced that it has developed and started mass production of the 'LLD series,' a 3-terminal, low ESL chip stacked ceramic capacitor featuring the world's smallest 0603M size (0.6mm×0.3mm).
Compared to the previously used 1005M size (1.0mm×0.5mm), this product reduces the component mounting area by approximately 64%, contributing to board space reduction.
Three-terminal capacitors have shorter current paths than standard two-terminal capacitors and can form multiple short current paths, allowing for rapid power supply.
This structural characteristic and low ESL feature help stabilize the operation of electronic devices by suppressing voltage fluctuations supplied to ICs in the high-frequency region.
Murata Manufacturing explained that it overcame the difficulty of miniaturization and developed a product capable of stabilizing power voltage and enabling high-density mounting even at high frequencies, through optimizing electrode structure design and advancing manufacturing processes.
