Jisicell announced that its research on using CIK cells for glioblastoma treatment was published in the international journal Frontiers in Neurology.
Key points
•CIK cell-based glioblastoma research published
•12 recurrent glioblastoma patients analyzed, median progression-free survival period 10.5 months
•Clinical applicability and safety of CIK cells explored
The company, led by Kim Jae-wang and Won Sung-yong, stated that their study on CIK cell-based treatment for glioblastoma has been published in the international academic journal Frontiers in Neurology. The research analyzed the characteristics of patient-derived CIK cells based on actual clinical data.
The research team analyzed medical records of 12 recurrent glioblastoma patients who received CIK cell therapy alongside temozolomide, bevacizumab, or nivolumab. The analysis showed an overall survival period of 14.2 months and a median progression-free survival period of 10.5 months.
Professor Choi Joong-kyun noted that glioblastoma has limited treatment options after recurrence and is challenging for immune therapy applications. This study, he said, explores the clinical applicability and safety of CIK cells. Jisicell plans to evaluate the potential of CIK-based treatments in refractory solid tumors beyond glioblastoma.
