Seoul National University's College of Engineering signed an agreement with the Air Force to collaborate in advanced science and technology fields, including AI and autonomous technologies, for academic-military cooperation.

The college aims to advance future defense technology through education, consultation, joint research, and information exchange centered around its Defense Engineering Center. The center, established in 2025, will facilitate multidisciplinary research networks for civilian-government-military collaboration.
Both institutions plan to formalize academic exchanges, educational operations, task identification, joint research, data utilization, and information sharing through working meetings. The Defense Engineering Center is expected to play a key role in this initiative.
Yung-Oh Kim, the Dean of the College of Engineering, emphasized that integrating practical experience with research capabilities is crucial for creating tangible value. Seong-jung Kim, Chief Planning and Management Adviser, also highlighted that collaboration between academia and the military is essential for adapting to future battlefield changes.
