A new global survey by Galderma found that more than half of women first attribute menopause-related skin changes to ageing, while fewer recognize the link to hormonal shifts.
Key points
•56% of women first attribute menopause-related skin changes to ageing
•Only 29% recognize the link between hormonal shifts and skin changes
•Clinical data shows sequenced treatment approach using Restylane Skinboosters followed by Sculptra provides significant improvements
The company’s research highlights a significant knowledge gap among women regarding how menopause affects their skin. Out of 5,090 participants across four countries, 56% initially thought these changes were due to general ageing, with only 29% recognizing the role of menopause.
Galderma’s new clinical data from an eight-month study led by Dr. Andreas Nikolis demonstrated that a sequenced treatment approach using Restylane Skinboosters followed by Sculptra provided significant improvements in skin hydration and remodeling across the face and décolletage for menopausal women, emphasizing the importance of preconditioning the skin.
The company is launching a new campaign to educate women on these changes and empower them with clear information. As part of this initiative, Galderma encourages a conversation that separates menopausal skin issues from generic ageing narratives.
